Strange Folk is an ongoing super 8mm project.
"THE AMATEUR AS AUTEUR!"
I am interested in play, folk rituals and human connection.
I am exploring this frontier by capturing modern psudo-folk gatherings on film.
Each roll of film is editing in-camera, as if made as a holiday reel from years gone by before the Super 8 camera was replaced by the mobile phone - capturing the moments of congregation. The final assembly will play one complete film after another, intercut with archive footage (also originating on Super 8mm), of British folk traditions.
